Per the PDF Schedules now posted on Buzzer, it looks like GSN is swapping season 18 of Jeopardy! with the 20th season of Jeopardy! But it looks like they will be starting with Kids Week which will be episode 4538.
Does anyone know when they debuted the new set?

November 2002...I believe the 25th; I just remember it being late-November of that year.

Between the J! Archive and it's seperate Season 20 site, GSN is starting in May 2004 - a bit over a month before Ken's reign began.

Episode #4538. May 5, 2004.
Come to think of it, we're about a month out from Thom on TTD too. Somehow, I wouldn't even even remotely surprised if that's *not* a coincidence.
-
Thanks very much, GSN, for skipping the season of my episode. =\ Ugh, I need a new copy of mine. Anyway, the point of watching game show reruns, often times, the thrill of not really knowing what's going to happen? If we've got Ken's season(s), seventy-five episodes are going to be foregone conclusions.

Simultaneous streaks. Very wise. Now, will they promote it or simply expect people to latch on by happenstance?

It will indeed be interesting to compare their streaks as it goes along. Personally, I'd like to see Thom and Ken go against each other on a game show.

If it were NBC, they'd promote the hell out of it—and spoil the outcome of both shows day after day.

You know what though? I might make it a point to watch Ken's reign again. I know I'll be DVRing each of the Thom TTD eps as well, because there were some great games in there. I enjoy watching those reign episodes more than regular reruns for some reason.

(Especially if a game I missed originally featuring one of our benevolent moderators airs). But I was referencing moreso the average channel surfer who knows the outcome of a game just by looking at the contestants.

Yes, but I bet a lot more folks will pay attention (see: slight ratings spike) when they see Ken compared to your average set of J! contestants. Whether they know the outcome of the game or not, Ken is arguably the most recognizable J! player of all time.
/except for said benevolent moderator

Please forgive me for asking this, but when did Matt go against Ken on Jeopardy?
/again I apologize

Day...14 or so? Somewhere in the teens, I thought.

During the chat segment, Alex and Matt talk about Bill Cullen.
Had you been the victor of this game and others, what else was on your tidbit card to discuss, Matt?

My number one story, as I've said on this forum before, was about watching the original daytime version when I was home from school, and memorizing the Final Jeopardy clue so I could quiz my father over dinner. The coordinators knew that Alex would like to say something nice about Cullen, though, so that won out.
One of the few completely positive things about the whole experience was the fact that my father lived to see me play.

I remember Matt's appearance on J! well...for the reason was that it provided me with conversation material on my lunch break from jury duty one day.
One of the people I was lunching with was talking about Matt and saying how impressive he was (we were talking about the whole Jeopardy run Ken was on, and you came up). It was a pretty interesting conversation.

I didn't think that the still of Captain Picard could possibly be topped. Once again, you've proven me wrong.

I watched Matt's episode as well. I'm sure Matt's still thinking to this day "Man, that Ken is one tough S.O.B. at Jeopardy!"

I think the ratings proved we all though that.....J actually beat WOF during the summer part of his games
As for the other post, Ken and Thom never met up head to head on Grand Slam? I'll have to dig for the roster on that show......I was towed down half the time(just to watch that show)
/hey it wasn't bad for GSN though
//I was playing a drinking game for each time the word "correct" was used :D
-
Well, today's show was actually the Friday show of that Kids Week from DC, not Wednesday. I guess bump your calendar dates for the 1st KJ show by 2 days with that being said.
/unless they get a wild hair to skip some shows
-
Don't count on the Friday show being the last one they air. We already know they go by production order, and ISTR that was the week that I learned about rearranging weeks like that.
-
Per the PDFs on Buzzer: Either GSN miscounted and screwed up their own brilliant idea, or the J-Archive episode numbers are off by a day:
Thom's run starts 8/22/08 (says so in the PDFs, they point him out even)
Ken's run, assuming you go by the J-Archive site...starts the 25th
