Title: If you met up with the GSN boss in person...
Post by: dheine1971 on September 17, 2003, 10:54:42 AM
Here's what I'd say to the boss of Game Show Network (Rich Cronin?) if I met him in person:
\"Sir, this is final, I demand Game Show Network should...
 1) Stop cuting out fee plugs of classic game shows for 1 more commercial break.
 2) Stop doing speed ups on parts of classic game shows.
 3) Stop shrinking the end credits in skinny form for single, double, and triple GSN promos.
 4) Reinstate the Price is Right, The Joker's Wild, Tic Tac Dough, Password Plus, Super Password, Tattletales, or any other classic game show.
 5) Get more show episodes from Sony.
 6) No longer air a video games block.
 ...OR ELSE!\"
However, he/she may reply: \"OR ELSE what??\"

We've had a few people come through here who have issued similar threatening edicts in the direction of whatever GSN bigwig was in power at the time. \"They had BETTER do _BLANK_!!!\"

They are invariably summarily dismissed as idiots. Please don't make the mistake of walking down the same path. I'm thinking you might get as far as #3 on your list before your audience with Messrs Boden and Cronin was cut short.

So you would walk up to someone you didn't even know, and start firing off demands?  Grow up.  Your points are ridiculous and are astray from GSN's plans.  While some people may like them, they are highly unrrealistic.

Also, how can you make judgement on the video game block when you haven't even seen how it's going to do?

I'd ask why they've only had one season of $100,000 Pyramid ad nauseum.

4) Reinstate the Price is Right, The Joker's Wild, Tic Tac Dough, Password Plus, Super Password, Tattletales, or any other classic game show.

eBay can help on a few of those demands:

Tic Tac Dough:

Looking at the ad for the Tattletales home game (oddly enough, as many times as I've visited your site, I never clicked on that link), I noticed this strange phrase:

\"seen on prime time daytime T.V. and at night once a week\"

So. . .what is \"prime time daytime T. V.\"?

I have been in the same room with Mr. Boden a couple of times and I can't say that I wanted to yell at the man. He is a very nice guy who has a very tough job. Sure there are things that I would like on GSN but I realize that the network is not only for me but for millions of others.

You have to realize that there are a lot of factors that go into these decisions. You do not have to be happy about some of them (I am sure not) but we have to live with them or change the channel. I personally would rather have a GSN with some shows I did not like then none at all. The bad choices will work themselves out in time via ratings.

Tim :-)

I don't see that.  I read \"The G/T gameshow seen in primetime TV every day; which would be the syndicated version; which AFAIK had no changes in format at all.

I think I can hold back the \"bad blood\" for Mr. Boden and Cronin for today, since 21 is on. I didn't think these shows would ever see the light of day after their initial run. This next schedule might prove that they aren't idiots, just that they made some bad decisions with that last few schedule changes :D

I deliberately kept the picture large so the print at the bottom could be readable.  It's possible that your browser automatically shrinks a picture so that it fits your screen, in which case it probably would be too small to read.

For those of you scoring at home, in case you don't already know, IE does this by default, and to toggle the actual size of the picture, you hover over the picture and click the button that appears in the lower right-hand corner of the image.
