Actually, it didn't get the highest rating for the night, and Randy didn't say it did.  He said it got the highest rating for the 8 pm hour.  Per this link (http://\"http://www.zap2it.com/tv/ratings/zap-ratings051607,0,2122378.story?coll=zap-tv-ratings-headlines\"), American Idol got the highest rating for the night.

Please be more careful from now on.  (And before you try to change the subject, the off-topic mention of GSN doesn't make up for your mistake.)

Last night's celebration of Bob's 50 years on television scored first place in the 8:00 p.m. hour with 9.4/16.

Despite everything, Bob Barker still owns.

Daytime TV will be a lesser place without him.

If by that you mean "less egotistical and self-serving," then yes, I agree completely.

/less errors?
//less model harrassment?
///really, I'm flexible here

You know, that was totally wrong.

But I liked it. :)

Just to add to the overall 9.4/16, adults 18-49 was 3.1/10. A total of 14.336 million viewers.
IMHO a well deserved win. Dobkowitz and team produced a great show.

I didn't see reason to start a whole new thread to discuss this. Something didn't sit right with me with last night's show. Did anyone else notice how they dubbed over Rod Roddy and Johnny Olsen's voices? There are highlights of contestants "coming on down" that are clearly from long before Rich Fields came in. Yet, every "Come on down!" you heard was Rich's voice.

Why cover up the originals? Why was it necessary to replace the voices that loyal TPiR fans heard for so many years before anyone even knew who Rich Fields was?

I definitely heard Johnny's voice saying "Tawana Brawley..." and I thought I heard Rod a couple of times.  You sure?

It wasn't throughout the whole episode. I did notice a couple of times when Johnny could be heard (the Yolanda incident of course). During one of the segments with exciting contestants running, flipping, and dancing down the aisles there was included Rich's high-pitched "Come on down!".

You know, I thought that, too...but then I realized that all the edits were done to place a "come on down" at the exact time a contestant fell down.  Johnny and Rod's original calls probably didn't line up with those correctly, so they had Rich dub it in instead.

At any rate, unless something changed since planning began on last night's episode (and for all I know, it could have), nothing in it was edited specifically because it contained audio of Johnny Olson or Rod Roddy.

I hope you meant Yolanda Bowsley.  Otherwise, there's an episode of TPIR I definitely need to see.

Dr. Freud had possessed me--or perhaps Alexandra Wentworth and Steve Landesberg's characters on Starz' "Head Case."  (Cute little show, particularly when Landesberg is doing his thing.)
