Title: Card Sharks
Post by: wyoperson888 on August 23, 2006, 04:41:55 PM
I was watching GSN's new lineup of Card Sharks and I was thinking of something while watching it.  Perry's version of the set was more interesting than Eubanks '86 version.  Post your reply on which one you like better!

Those whose first exposure to the show was on NBC like the NBC set better, those who saw the CBS version first like the CBS set better.

Aw, Bullard's set isn't a choice? ;)

Kidding aside, my personal favorite is Perry's. I liked the mechanical freeze bars and face card turntables, and how the border of the board changed color depending on who had control of the cards. Eubanks/Rafferty's set was all right, but it seemed kinda bare until the put the car there.

Wouldn't say that for everyone...I prefer the NBC set.  The CBS set is rather...barren.

Back when the earth was still cooling, I would watch Card Sharks starring Bill Rafferty after getting home from school, and Bob's CS on days off. I thought it was just about the coolest thing ever.

Until I got GSN and was able to see the NBC version. Holy Mother and Glaven, the NBC version blows the CBS one out of the water in every conceivable way.

Gotta go with the majority and say the NBC set.  Nice scheme, very active, very casino-y, and bouncy!

Yeah, I have to agree with everyone here and go with Perry's set.  With all the neon lights, automatic FREEZE bars, and the giant sized cards moving around all over the stage.  I also like how Perry's set had more than just Aces and Deuces displayed.  I always thought thats was kind of boring on the Eubanks/Rafferty set.

It was until they got the car/trip and the massive light border in the back of the stage, it filled the set out a little bit... but I still love the NBC version better.

The only real redeeming quality to the CBS set was how the big cards would tilt on an angle when the main game board was hidden.  Too bad that went away.

Anyone know why they stopped doing that?

I like the NBC set as well. The podium was really needed for the Money Cards.

The best thing I can give CBS's version was that the cards were slightly smaller and more manageable. I think Eubanks or Rafferty might have needed a step-stool to reach the Big Bet row on Perry's set.

I'm gonna guess the mechanics thereof were prone to breaking.

I like NBC's version of Card Sharks. The set looked pretty cool, the only odd thing is that the freeze bar tends to not function at times, not all the time, and a podium for the Money Cards was of good help.
